West Anchorage Again Leads The Way

You may have read that Lieutenant Governor Mead Treadwell has been sued for allowing the creation of the Gubenatorial Unity ticket of Bill Walker and Byron Mallott.

What you might have missed is who is doing the suing. That would be Steve Strait, our neighbor and chair of the Republican Party for District 21, which is the West Anchorage house district that brought us Lindsey Holmes.

Thanks, Steve!

I say that with complete sincerity. The suit is going to fail – there is plenty of legal precedent to uphold it – while generating lots of news stories where the phrase “Unity Ticket” figures prominently. Couple that with the whiny, sour grapes spirit that permeates the suit, and how that will be reported… and how Steve is an operative of the Republican Party… well, I don’t see how this is anything less than a win.

But don’t take my word for it – Former Chair of the Alaska Republican Party, Debbie Brown, thinks so, too.

I don’t know Steve personally, and I have only spoken to him once, at a Turnagain Community Council meeting in March of 2013. From that meeting, I would say that he’s pretty passionate about his beliefs. So much so, I think he shoots himself and his beliefs in the foot by even opening his mouth (you shoulda been at the community council meeting, that’s all I can say).

Thanks again, Steve. If you have a moment, a sour grapes press release would be great!
